Hello,

We have a 6" borewell, 320ft deep. During the construction activity accidently a hard 1 1/2" PVC pipe was damaged about 25ft from ground level and the pump with 280 ft long PVC pipe slipped inside. Several attempts were made to recover the pump but failed.

Is it possible to cut or use controlled explosive to rupture the hard PVC pipe above the pump and lower the new pump?

Kindly advise

Hello,

I have a borewell dug up for domestic usage as well as to water garden plants. Bore is dug to a total depth of 250 ft, and capped with 6 inch pipe till a depth of 40 ft. There after the bore is 4 inch dia till the bottom. Water was found at 80 feet depth during dry season. It overflows during rainy season.

Kindly advise the specification od the submersible pump that I should use to draw water fro mthis bore along with details of piping. Also what can be the flow rate achieved from this arrangement.

Hi,

I have a 6 inch borewell of 550 ft depth. My daily water consumption is 5000 litres and the water needs to be pumped to the 6th floor of the building. Could you suggest a suitable submersible pump that I should choose (HP and the number of stages). Which brand should I go for?

Hi,

Currently I have a single phase connection in my house. I plan to convert it to 3 phase connection in future. I am planning to go for a new borewell. I would like to know if a single phase or 3 phase motor is advisable. Also please let me know the difference between the two.

Once thought to be common property of the village, these traditional water-powered grinding mills are disappearing. Can reviving them restore a sense of community as well?

Gharats are water-powered grinding mills found in Himalayan villages. Though these are owned and managed by individuals, they are considered to be the common property of the entire village. Traditionally, the villagers contributed labour to the gharat owner at the time of its installation or during repairs in return for which their grains were ground for free for social and religious ceremonies.
