India to get its first solar-powered toilet

The waterless toilet converts human waste into charcoal that can be used as fertilizer in farming or as a fuel, say researchers at the University of Colorado who developed the toilet.

Grams in Tripura not 'Nirmal'

In our apartment, we have a borewell around 250 to 300 ft deep. Recently, the borewell pump was not working and we tried to pull the pump out but was unable to pull it out. We called the borewell people, who tried to pull the pump using chain pulley and cable rope through the PVC pipe. Despite their efforts they were able to only remove the pipe and cable and now the pump is stuck at the bottom. Now my question is that:

1. Can we remove the pump with any other method.

2. If not, then can we install a new pump above the old pump.

Please advise.

Hi,

We have dug a borewell 270 ft deep in a school building. The water level of the borewell is 100 ft. We want to install a motor which has the capacity to pump water from 240-250 ft deep, then transfer the water to the other corner of the building 200 ft away and then further lift the water to the height of 60 ft towards a water tank. So, please suggest me the kind of submersible pump to be used in this case, along with specifications of motor like how much HP, what phase and so on.

Thanks

I would like to do drip irrigation for 3 acres of coconut farm, which do not have a electricity supply.

Currently, I have 250 ft borewell with atleast 100 ft of water level. The water from the borewell is pumped using diesel engine- air compressor pump.

Diesel engine is water cooled and hence, there is 1/2" connection from the discharge of the water pump to the diesel engine cooling system. The water from pump is intermittent and of high pressure.

Hi all,

We had drilled two borewells about a year back in our layout (300+ houses). But, we didn't use it till now. We want help in terms of :

1. Testing the water quality
2. Arriving pump capacity required for these bore wells (600 ft & 900 ft)
3. Connecting these borewells to our existing water distribution infrastructure
4. Rain water harvesting and borewell recharging upgradation planning for the layout

Looking for a hydrology consultant to help us on the above.

Regards, Parthasarathy
