NGT demands report on fluorosis in Maharashtra

Our four year old borewell is 6 inch deep with 650 feet silt at the bottom, 25 feet pump and 5 HP air compressor water pipe. The static level of water is 600 feet. Till last summer we got good yielding from the borewell but then the yield had gone down to 5000- 7000 litres per hour, later to 3000 litres per day. In winters, the yield had gone up to almost 50 feet from ground but we faced another problem that the compressor was not pumping water. We got the compressor serviced and moved the water pipe level from 600 feet to 400 feet (when the yielding was 5000 litres per 2 hours).

Meerut celebrated World Water Day with speakers talking about the connection between the two topics.

The theme of this year’s World Water Day was “energy-water nexus”. It was almost as if the topic was chosen keeping Western Uttar Pradesh in mind because the conflict between water and energy users in agriculture and industry has heightened here in the recent past. The area's groundwater has been completely exploited thanks to the swift development of private tubewells for irrigation, which has impacted the power sector too.

I stay in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, where I live it does not have corporation's pipe water connection. I had taken connection from a water line which is 250 meters away from my house, but we don't receive sufficient amount of water though we are using motors for water suction. Our neighbours also face the same issue. Please suggest me a motor that has a good force to pump ample of water to my house. G Lakshmikant, Aurangabad, 9422209051.

Hi, I have dug a borewell 430 ft deep at Ulsoor in Bangalore. Four months ago the motor got stuck in the borewell and I pulled the motor up using air pressure. The motor was then repaired and while re-installing the motor it got stuck again. I called the borewell camera person who confirmed that the motor was stuck inside. Then using a chain pulley I myself lifted the motor but the silt has come to 210 ft level now and the static level of water is still 35 ft. Please suggest what has to be done in this situation. Can I still use the water using a silt pipe with one end closed.

We want to replace our 3 HP motor with a new one. Can you provide a list of options from which we can choose a best quality, cost effective pump with best services, reliability and warranty. The specifications are: borewell is 900 ft deep and water has to be pumped to the overhead tank which is above 200 ft from the ground level. Thanks, Raju GT Hyderabad.
