I have dug a bore well around 400 feet deep, that is 6" wide, and I also have a 7.5 HP submersible motor. My motor works in 3 phase supply, now i have to put 2 phase to it. Is it possible to run the motor in 2 phase? Will this cause any problems for the motor? If so, are there any solutions?

Solar pumps are cost-effective, environment-friendly and have good potential in places with high water table. Sehgal Foundation, that piloted 14 solar pumps in two districts of Bihar, shows how.

Irrigation system in India is often about big dams and hundreds of kilometres of canals that incur huge capital expenditure. Hence, policies at the central and the state level are mostly tilted in favour of big projects and often neglect micro-level solutions.

I have a bore well which is 730 feet deep and since there is lot of slush, I get it cleaned once in two years. I have two 20 feet metal casing pipes installed. This time the lorry person while removing the rod, some how pulled the bottom casing pipe and it crumbled and got stuck at 18 feet. The lorry person said that he could do anything, and he wouldn't even be able to re-bore through the metal. How can I get this casing removed and install a new one? I'm with out water for almost 3 days.

A study from Telangana finds faulty power subsidy policies of the state and the resultant increase in tube wells with electric pumps as reasons for depleting groundwater levels.

According to the data released by the Food and Agricultural Organisation’s AQUASTAT in 2010, at 250 billion m³ per year, India is one of the countries that uses groundwater the most. As high as 80 percent of its water is used for irrigation of which 65 percent is groundwater.

Despite all the hype around Swachh Bharat Mission, the situation on the ground remains dismal. The city of Ujjain is located on the western part of Madhya Pradesh on the Malwa Plateau and is primarily a religious tourism centre due to the Mahakal temple. The temple is not only one of the 12 jyotirlingas in India but also has prominence as the location for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela every 12 years.

Dear Iwp
I live by the seaside where the water table is very high and there is copious water. I do not have government supplied water and depend solely on my well for my domestic use.  But because  the water is shrinking in my regular well which is about 25 feet deep, I have dug a borewell of about 50 feet as a safety measure. The borewell had a jet pump which got damaged and needs to be replaced.
