Hello,

I am considering an 8 acre property with drip irrigation, according to the seller the land is sustained by a borewell with 2.5 inches water.  Does that sound adequate?  I feel it is not enough to even pump it up, but the seller insists thats very good by Indian standards, need information on this.

In this article, Seetha Gopalakrishnan introduces us to the Rain Centre and it activities in Chennai with respect to storm water construction in the city

One of the most conspicuous activities in the preparation for the monsoons in several cities today is dug up roads ! Crores and crores are spent on the construction of storm water drains alongside roads in cities and towns to prevent flooding during the rains. These channels / tunnels, that stretch for several kilometers, winding its way across the city, are expected to channel all the collected water into the nearest water body, say a lake or a river.

Dear experts.

I live in Thoraipakkam, Chennai (off the OMR). The ground water is very salty with a TDS of 6830. I have a borewell of 40 ft depth and there is copious yield even from 5 ft depth.

Can you please recommend how best to install a domestic RO system to take care of all domestic needs. Local body supplied water on road side taps is not usable as it is yellow in color and dependency on water tanker is proving difficult to manage.

Dear All,

I need to pump water from the ground level to tank 40 feet high by installing pump at 30 feet. The problem is I have BMC supply water pipe 0.5 inch which dose not have pressure needed to pump at 40 feet height. So I need to suck water from it, but I can't put my pump at ground level because of some reasons.

Please advice me what type of pump I should use to pump the water up to 40 feet height. Its urgent.

We had dug a bore well @725 feet in Seeghalli, Bangalore & inserted submersible 3 HP 35 stage motor pump @675 feet and 100 feet of casing in it. There are 6 water channels inside it. Water level started @ 500 feet & continued till 633 feet. We got about 2 inches water. The motor stopped working in a few days.  After 6 months we put camera & were informed that mud & stones had accumulated at 70 feet & jammed the motor pump.

Dear sir,

I have drilled a borewell in Fursungi, Pune, Maharashtra. I have drilled it to about 250 feet and we found water at 110 ft and at 120 feet the water was mixed with dust. We flushed the borewell with high pressure compressor and when we checked with a submersible pump no water came out. My question is:

  • Where has the water gone?
  • What are the solutions
  • Do I have dig a new borewell.

Thanks
Sandip
