Hello Sir,

We are living in an apartment. We have a well in our compound. We are planning to dump all the water that gets collected on the terrance, when rains, into the well. Please let me know if we can do that or not? We don't use that well water for drinking purpose.

Thanks

In this article, Aarti Kelkar-Khambete narrates her experience of her visit to Kasargod, Kerala to meet Sree Padreji and to see the fast disappearing Surangas

Surangas continue to be one of the relatively less known and gradually disappearing traditional water harvesting systems of Kasargod district, Kerala and are being gradually replaced by borewells to meet the water needs of the community.

First, water tax and now, water purifiers - how will the lower income group afford quality drinking water?

Chennai formerly known as Madras, the capital of Tamil Nadu is the sixth most populous city in India with 4.68 million residents as of 2011. Until 1870, it had no piped water supply within the city and people were dependent on public and private wells. The construction of a piped water supply system was started in 1872. This laid the foundation for the present water supply system. Today, Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) looks after the drinking water supply of the city.

Hi,

I have an fundamental question as to why its advantageous to use submersible rather than motor outside of the bore.

I am a resident of Hyderabad and I would like to directly use the rain water collected on my roof. Constructed ground is hard rock with lot of efforts we dug a borewell of 420 feet. There is no chance of creating a pit for harvesting rainwater. So please suggest the ways of injecting rainwater into borewell.

My question is, is there any possibility of a borewell collapse due to this? Will there be a decrease in water flow due to this?

We have a borewell drilled in AECS Layout, Bangalore with depth of 1068 ft. The diameter being 6.5". When we did a camera testing we could see water stored from 510 ft. The water sources were found at the following depth

1) 350 ft
2) 525 ft
3) 530 ft
4) 705 ft

We have drilled a new borewell and we have got a water source of 3.5" at a depth of 415 feet but we were not able to drill above 450 feet due to water pressure and hence further drilling was stopped. Now we have to install the water pump with the available water source of 3.5".

Now if we decide to make it a commercial source for water supply, how much water can we pump every day and what capacity of pump & electrical power is required for it. If we decide to go for domestic purpose only (3000 ltrs/day) then what capacity of pump and power is required. Please advise.

I dug a 1000 feet borewell and now the bore water comes out with dust and small stones. Every 4 months, something goes wrong with the borewell motor. How can I rectify this?
