I am a resident of Guwahati, Assam. I have constructed a house three years back with a well for water. The well is about 55 feet deep with a diameter of 1 metre with cement ring casings. However, for the last one and half years, water quality has remained unfit for use with very high amount of iron. Water is totally red in colour and needs sand filtration for iron removal before it is consumed. The bottom of the well has a 2 metre deep natural sand bed.
Furthermore, in the last one and half year the well has developed leaks in the joints of the cemented casings and there , chunks of iron deposits.
Can a suitable remedial measures be suggested so that I may get clean water alongwith methods to plug off the leaks?
In case I bore a new well, how can i find a suitable place where I can get adequate water by seeing from overground?

I am a government employee serving in the ministry of Home Affairs.
