I recently purchased a house at Naagaaram which is in outskirts of Hyderabad. I found that the groundwater there is very salty and did not give lather while bathing. I have decided to go for a water purifier, I took a demonstration from Kent RO people. They tested a water sample and I was astonished to note the TDS, it is more than 10000. I would like to know if

1. For drinking purposes, are new age purifying machines with UV, UF &  RO capable of  treating this high TDS water to meet the drinking water standards? Will Filters or other Systems in these machines need extra maintenance?

2. What is the best method to soften this water to make it fit for regular domestic purposes?
