Dear Sirs,

I am planning to dig a bore well for domestic use. I am from Kerala, Kottayam  dt. I have some doubts about this matter. Please help me to clarify followings:

1. How to find exact location of bore well scientifically in mu land ? Whom to contact so that I can make sure that I will get water ?

2. Is there any "rule of thumb" regarding the depth of bore well ?What should be the minimum depth of any bore well ?

3. Suppose I find water at a depth of 200 feet, what is next prosedure ? Should the drilling stopped or we should continue drilling further ? If so how many extra feet to be drilled further after detecting water ?

4. What should be the casing material to be used ? Is PVC good and lasting ?

5. From this website I read "we found 1.1/2" water, 2" water etc. what is the meaning of that ?

Please help me and if you have any more suggestions for me please provide.
