Description:

The SaciWATERs-CapNet Network (SCaN) invites applications for a three day training course(19th - 21st April, 2011) on the use of Open Source Geospatial Tools in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).

The objective of this capacity building course is to introduce and initiate widespread adoption of the Open Source Geospatial Tools at all levels of IWRM. The tools to be introduced are Class of Free and Open source Geospatial for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM); the desktop tools including Open Jump, QGIS; and basics of databases such as PostgreSQL and Post GIS. The expected outcome is a trained cadre of stakeholders of IWRM who can harness the geospatial tools for IWRM activities on a routine basis without involving specialist GIS personnel. Participants will be provided with the software free of cost and will be trained to use it.

Cost of the training:

The organisers will cover the cost of training, which includes registration fee, reading material and the software. The participants are expected to bear the cost of their accommodation, travel and food (Lunch is included in the registration fee).
