In the context of the guidelines of the revised National Water Policy (2002) which require the states to prepare a comprehensive state-level water policy, and also the need to pay special attention towards the construction of new irrigation projects, along with water management, land management, food management, floods management, ecological balance etc, in the context of the various new developments and problems being faced by the state of Bihar over the last decade or so, the Water Resources Department of the State Government of Bihar has prepared a draft State Water Policy (2009) and is inviting comments from the general public.

This presentation describes the efforts undertaken by ITCs Munger plant at water conservation. Some of the measures put into practice at ITC's Munger plant include recycling of back wash water through a tube settler plant; reduction in domestic water consumption through dual flushes, e-flushes and e-taps; the incorporation of an RO plant for treating effluent; and an approach to zero waste water discharge by using treated water for such purposes as toilets and gardening.

Krishna Arpanam the name for all N. M. Budhrani Trust programs, came true once again, when we were presented with an opportunity to serve those affected by the disaster that struck some of the districts in Bihar. In collaboration with SSVK Bihar, the organization which has the local field level expertise, the "Krishna Arpanam flood relief" program was initiated.
