These information sheets have been prepared by WaterAid and the British Geological Survey and include information on groundwater quality in 23 states of northern India and five peninsular states. The sheets aim to identify inorganic constituents of significant risk to health that may occur in groundwater in India. The purpose of the sheets is to provide guidance to WaterAid country office staff on targeting efforts on water-quality testing and to encourage further thinking in the organisation on water-quality issues.


Groundwater quality in 23 states of northern India

This report gives a summary of the information currently available on groundwater quality in northern India, incorporating 23 of the 28 Indian states, but excluding the five southern states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Groundwater quality in five peninsular Indian states

This report describes the groundwater quality of the five southern states of India, namely Maharashtra, Andra Pradesh, Orissa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, in which WaterAid has current programmes.
