About SeaChange: Dakshin’s SeaChange initiative is an integrated pathway that secures healthy ecosystems and thriving communities. It enables inclusive, community-driven, governance models for the sustainable use of coastal and marine ecosystems and improvement of community wellbeing through strengthening collective action within and across coastal regions.

Position details: The Site Coordinator will work with Dakshin site teams and the SeaChange Programme Lead to work on building and supporting our site-specific initiatives towards integrated conservation and development interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

1. Coordinating, planning and executing SeaChange activities on ground on specific interlinked themes such as livelihoods, conservation, governance and wellbeing keeping small-scale fisheries in mind.

2. Advising, mentoring and supporting the site embedded SeaChange team based in Maharashtra with their integrated field interventions.

3. Working closely with Dakshin's programme leads to implement planned SeaChange interventions, undertake field actions and programmes as necessary. This will involve timely communication and coordination with the SeaChange Lead, and programme personnel, external experts and site-specific team members.

4. Working with the SC Lead to help develop partnerships with state-level actors to further the goals of SeaChange, namely through coordination with Maharashtra - level NGOs, private bodies, CSOs and government bodies.

5. Undertaking necessary project management including project reporting, budgeting, planning, proposal writing and implementing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, on the advice of the SC Lead

6. Providing advice and teamwork-based support to Dakshin's Maharashtra staff and to the team of community staff, to guide their field interventions.

7. Overseeing administration related to Maharashtra SeaChange (reporting, documentation, budget admin).

8. Assisting in developing current admin/HR-related work pertaining to the management of field staff/community staff and the oversight of the field bases in Maharashtra for healthy co-living and co-working environments

Candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:

1. A master’s degree with two years or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of four years of work experience in environmental, livelihood, fisheries, or development-related projects. 

2. Fluency in English (spoken and written) and Marathi (spoken; a preference for written proficiency).

3. Demonstrable ability to think independently, supervise teams and field activities, meet deadlines, track deliverables, organise meetings and undertake coordination of field logistics.

4. Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

5. Proven ability to work in collaboration with diverse stakeholders and teams, including government departments and institutions.

6. Ability and commitment to working with rural, marginalised communities

7. Proven ability to stay in a rural field site for an extended duration. Please note that this position requires candidates to be based in our field stations in Maharashtra, for at least 9 months of the year.

Preferential Requirements:

1. Experience in working with rural communities and youth on development and environmental issues will be an added advantage.

2. Candidates with prior experience in coordinating field work, supervising field teams, preparing activity calendars, tracking, monitoring and evaluation and reporting will be preferred.

3. Previous experience working in or an understanding of the social-ecological challenges facing coastal and marine systems.
