Job Overview:
Samvedna Development Society is seeking qualified Fishery Experts to support and strengthen sustainable fisheries and aquaculture-based livelihoods in Bihar. The positions are part of a state-level initiative in collaboration with key stakeholders to improve productivity, enhance market linkages, and promote sustainable aquatic resource management across rural clusters.
The selected candidates will work closely with district-level institutions, farmer producer groups, and rural communities to implement field-level interventions and provide technical expertise in fisheries, aquaculture, and resource conservation.
Role Overview:
We are looking for dynamic professionals with hands-on experience in fisheries management or aquaculture operations to support district-level interventions across Nalanda, Muzaffarpur, Purnia, and Saharsa. The role involves designing and executing fishery-based livelihood models, capacity building of local stakeholders, technical support, and monitoring of project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to fish farmers, cooperatives, and SHGs involved in aquaculture and inland fisheries.
• Support the implementation of fisheries-related livelihood models in collaboration with local stakeholders.
• Conduct field visits to assess and monitor pond health, water quality, species selection, stocking density, feed management, and harvesting.
• Facilitate training programs and capacity building workshops for fish farmers and field facilitators.
• Assist in developing site-specific aquaculture models and management plans.
• Document field learnings, success stories, and case studies for reporting and knowledge dissemination.
• Provide support in linking farmers to input suppliers and market players.
• Coordinate with local government departments and resource institutions for convergence and technical support.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Marine Biology, or a closely related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in fisheries/aquaculture project implementation, research, or development sector.
• Practical knowledge of aquaculture practices, water management, disease control, and fish nutrition.
• Good understanding of rural livelihoods and community-based models.
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently to rural project locations.
• Proficiency in local language (Hindi and regional dialects) will be preferred.
