Project Background :
The project “Support to Agroecological transformation processes in India (SuATI)”, of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH" is responsible for the implementation of planned measures to support Agroecological transformation processes in close coordination with the national partner Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare (MoAFW), Ministry of Rural Development, National Agriculture Bank for Rural Development ( NABARD) and the corresponding federal partners of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Assam. The objective of the project is to support strengthening of Agroecological transformation processes of agricultural and food systems both at national and state level. Hence the project aims to improve the exchange and more coherent application of knowledge about agroecological and similar sustainable agricultural practices in India. It plans to establish backward and forward linkages by strengthening links between market and agricultural and food systems. Educational, research and consulting institutions need support for generating evidence-based research to strengthen agroecological knowledge systems. The project is planning interventions in consultation with implementing partners and documenting the outcome scientifically to support states and national government in its policies and programmes. The key action areas of the project are to support the transformative process of Indian agriculture towards more agroecologically driven approaches, results, and policies: State level
• Facilitate inclusion of Agroecological (AE) approaches in agriculture policies
• Strengthen successful agriculture models of producer groups.
• Encourage government and private procurement from AE producers.
• Raising consumer awareness for safe & local food
Responsibilities
• Coordinate and manage project activities through consulting organisations, civil society organisations, state department/s and the private organisation in the state of Karnataka.
• Explore and facilitate partnerships and cooperation between the private and public stakeholders in the state of Karnataka in Agroecology/Organic Agriculture
• Contribute in holding consultative dialogues among relevant state departments of Agriculture and the implementing partners of the project from time to time in project related themes.
• Develop relevant concepts, collect relevant data for project reporting and in documenting the experiences from the field.
• Coordinate and work closely with team leader responsible for implementation and other state and national team members.
Core Scope of Tasks
• Planning of the activities (as per the annual plan of the project), coordination, and implementation of same in the field.
• Coordination with relevant project partners, institutional partners at the state levels, and external consultants/organizations engaged by project for timely delivery of project outputs.
• Participate in workshops and stakeholder dialogues organized by the project, partners and provide technical input and expertise.
• Facilitate the exchange of information between partners, stakeholders, and the project for ensuring a smooth flow of information and coordination.
• Update project with the latest developments in the field of Agroecology/organic agriculture and share with the project team from time to time.
• Involve in monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, to assess project progress and impact. Other duties/additional tasks

Required Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
• A master’s degree in agriculture with experience in Agroecology/ Organic / Regenerative/Natural farming.
• Proven experience of 5 years in project coordination and evidence based technical management of the projects in agroecology/organic/natural farming.
• Good organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Familiarity with the initiatives in the field of agroecology/ organic/natural farming initiatives in India along with agriculture universities, research organisations and civil society organizations.
• Proven and published knowledge/research articles/papers in the field of agroecology.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and project team members.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Kannada is preferred.
• A willingness to travel to project sites and engage with stakeholders is required.
