The Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, invites nominations for the National Urban Water Awards 2010.
The National Urban Water Awards Awards (NUWA) have been instituted by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India, to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in urban water management.
These awards have been instituted with the explicit purpose of honoring urban local governments, water boards and organizations who have demonstrated improvements in service delivery of water through effective water management practices. The awards aim is to provide a forum to showcase urban initiatives and inspiring models in water managements.
e. g. Reduction in non-revenue water (NRW), energy audit, metering, 24X7 water-supply initiatives
e. g. Accounting reforms, tariff and/or subsidy rationalization, cost recovery and bill-collection improvements
e. g. Improved access, targeted subsidies and incentives, participatory planning mechanisms
e. g. Improved communication strategy, enhanced customer satisfaction, e-governance, public disclosure and transparency initiatives
e. g. Provision of services, contracting out O&M services, engaging management expertise
e. g. Video/audio films communicating key components, impacts, observed and intended benefits, etc., of the projects, campaigns organised for awareness generation and behavioural changes as a regular process/activity, etc., for water and/or sewerage
e. g. Awareness generation and behavior changes, eliminating open defecation, hygiene improvement, sanitary improvement and safe disposal practices, reuse and recycle of waste-water, strategies and plans for city-wide integrated sanitation, good O&M practices, capacity building, new financing options etc.
