Environment status report on water resources for Karnataka (2003) by Department of Ecology and Environment (Government of Karnataka)

• Hotspots that highlight the magnitude of the problems related to environmental degradation with a view to enable decisionmakers to select activities like recharge of groundwater, prevent pollution, step up watershed development programmes etc.
• Trends to predict future water requirements
• Causes for scarcity of water
• Prioritisation according to degree and severity of environmental problems keeping in mind their socioeconomic and ecological impacts
• Action plan for optimising utilisation of groundwater and surface water for the next 25 years
