This study assesses the efficiency of urban water supply system in select 27 Indian cities. It applies data envelopment analysis (DEA) as an analytical tool for measuring technical efficiency. Cities are categorised into two groups (e.g. Municipal Corporations and Government, and Municipal Corporations and parastatals) according to the management structures of their water utilities. It analyses each utility on various parameters with comparative analysis on deviation and scale. It is a useful tool for assessing the mangaing authority of the water services.

Survey of school sanitation in seven blocks of Mysore district. The survey analysis aimed at exploring the availability and usage of infrastructure in schools regarding water and sanitation. Dugwells started losing their significance following installation of handpumps, which led to uncontrolled pumping of groundwater and problems of groundwater contamination with arsenic in Bihar

This paper published by Megh Pyne Abhiyan argues that  dug wells slowly started losing their significance following the invention and large scale marketing of hand pumps,. This has led to the transformation of the wells into dumping yards of garbage and also a place, above which houses are getting constructed. However, Megh Pyne Abhiyan, a campaign and functional network started a dug well project in rural Bihar.
