Hi,

I am resident of Mogappair East, Chennai, where the water pumped from borewell (depth around 70 ft) turns yellow. When water is stored in overhead tank, deposits will come as fine mud. This mud is clogging the water lines and I was forced to spend money to lay fresh lines from overhead to my house taps. My plumber is suggesting to construct a tank filled with sponge which is to be replaced frequently. But, he says it is costly affair.

Dear Experts,

We are an apartment of 20 flats in 5 floors. Of late we observed that the pump takes ages (more than 7-8 hours) to fill the tank and is consuming more than 40 units per day. The height for pumping water (sump floor to overhead tank top) is around 85 feet and the tank capacity is 10,000 Liters. The existing pump is 1 hp (Single phase) with a discharge pipe of 1inch dia. What could be the root cause for such dismal performance of the pump?

Hello IWP,

We are working on a proposal to establish a bioenergy plantation on our plant in Banda district. We would like to know the rainfall data over the last 4 years and which region of Banda gets the most rainfall in the district. We have to establish the plantation in monsoon only and during dry months have access to water the plants in the first year. Water requirement is about 80 litres per plant per month.

Does the ground water provide the volume? Are there canals/rivers that can be accessed?

Regards

Latha

Hi,

I have a borewell that I dug 2 years back, whose depth is 1000 ft. I got water at 850',but after 10 days of pumping water, the water suddenly stopped. When i checked with the bore well digger, he suggested to take the motor out and check it. When we tried to take the motor out we got to know that was stuck and now, it is not coming out. with the pipe, cable and the motor inside. We tried scanning the borewell with camera and found that at 450', it has got closed. and while trying to take the pipe out it got cut in between and fell inside.
