Dear IWP

As per KSPCB guide line Fecal Coliform content (MPN/100ml) should be less than 100 for  effluent from STP, where as e.coli limit for drinking water is zero.  Hence, if such (STP) water is pumped into toilets it may be hazardous as chances of the bacteria coming in contact with food and water cannot be ruled out.

Do you agree that the KSPCB guide lines should not be applied if STP-recycled-water is used for toilet flushing? Please lshare your thoughts on this and confirm my query.

Hello

Iam from Erode, and here there are many textile industries that take water for their process and the release the water with high TDS, like 5000-9000 ppm. Is there any alternate method for reducing the TDS instead of the prevalent RO process?

Sarath

Hi

We are having an output of more than 200kld of treated wastewater which is going down the drain. We would like to reuse the waste water either through soaking pits or by injection bore well so that the ground water table is charged. Latest test reports reveal that the pH is 7.32, turbidity is NTu<1.1, residual free chlorine is 1.73, TDS 550, evolution not detected, total coliform 6(which is corrected by dousing sodium hypochlorite).

Hello All

May be the problem is not new but still I couldn't find any solutions. Our Apartment STP is build in the basement, & there are all common issues of STP now appearing like heavy noise, quality of treated water, tank overflowing, foul smell etc. Hence we would like to check our STP design with some third party consultant & want to submit a claim report to our builder as well as KSPCB.

Hi

How safe are household water purifying systems like HUL, Pureit etc which use chlorine for purification? The manufacturers say that this system involves 4 stage purification and one of them is polishing. Does this process really work for safe drinking water?

Please suggest as millions of people use appliances like these and most of them doesn't know what chemicals are used actually.

Raju Vemula

Hello,

I live in one of the society at Gurgaon and we have a sewage water treatment plant. This water is used only in our flush tank. We are now thinking on how to maintain the hygiene of STP. Sometimes we do get smelly and yellowish water.

Please suggest to me ways to ensure that we can ensure safe water from our STP. Also what are all the safety checks/reading to ensure safe water.

Thanks,

Devendra

Hi

We live in Bangalore and when digging a borewell found water at 600 feet. The drilling machine was not going further due to the water pressure. They say it is more than 2 inches, amd as the bore well guys were expecting a 1000 ft drill, they went on trying in spite of me telling them to stop. Then the water turned muddy and fine gravel started coming out. I asked them to stop immediately. Now, I am a little worried whether the water will be clear. We are yet to put in the motor. Please provide your expert opinions.

Thanks

George SW
