We have an issue with the supply of water to overhead tank (OHT). A row house comprising of 10 tanks and 2 lines run parellel from the under ground tank to all the 10 OHT. Line A serves 5 tanks and Line B serves 5 tanks. Ours is line B and the 5th tank. The pump runs for 45 mins but we get the water at low pressure and only for 15 min.Our tank is the last and at a higher gradient. I presume the water fills all the 4 tank on its way and then supply water to the 5th tank hence the water pressure is low and only for 15min.

Hi
I had a borewell drilled on 12th Sept 2012 but there seems to be problems with regard to frequent blocking of pump due to silt accumalation. I got the pump cleaned once, reduced the depth of the pump location and reinstalled. But the problem still continues.

Hi,

We dug a borewell upto 700 ft in Bangalore, got rock at 23 ft, borewell is in use for the past 8 months. We would get muddy water whenever it rains for the first few minutes and clear water after that.

THis article looks at the devastating impacts of dams, barrages and hydrological modifications on the fisheries sector in India

More than 10.86 million Indians depend on rivers, wetlands, floodplains, estuaries, ponds and tanks for subsistence and market-based fisheries. Though the absolute contribution of riverine fisheries may not be huge in economic terms, it is a very crucial component in livelihood and nutritial security of the rural poor. With declining health of rivers, riverine fisheries are declining and collapsing rapidly. This is indeed worrisome and needs to be ameliorated.
