The pollution rates of the river Hindon are alarming. Despite work by conservation groups, the efforts on the part of the government to fix the problem remain uncertain.

Come monsoon and the situation in the Hindon river is truly troubling. Large stretches of the river continue to suffer toxic contamination. An article by Baishali Adak in Daily Mail Online (UK) last year showed images of the effluent-laden river in the 30 km stretch in Ghaziabad.

Supreme plan for manual scavengers

Hello,

Is it legal for households to have pressure booster pumps and sumps to draw water from municipal water supply lines? Do we have any Government orders or rules banning it.

Don't these devices/ structures disturb the hydraulic design of the water supply networks and impact the rest of the community?

Few years ago I had supplied water containers to a firm to purify arsenic from drinking water. This project was run with the help of the UNO, WB, ADB AND WHO. Also the chemicals to remove arsenic from drinking water was supplied by UNO to the NGO on unit bases.

The name of the NGO is R.P.M. Marketing Pvt Ltd, C 23  Friends Colony, New Delhi. I had supplied the materials way back in 2000-2002, so at present I do not have their contact number.

I stay in a 12-storey apartment complex in Ghaziabad, close to Delhi. 2 months ago, our old borewell casing pipe collapsed, so we went for a new borewell about 15m away. We got good water over 2 months, but now suddenly it is throwing up lot of sand with the water. We have stopped the pump till a remedy is found.

We need an expert to diagnose the problem. Can someone give us telephone references of reputed experts in the NCR region who can come onsite to check?

Some specifics: 210 ft. deep boring
8 in. casing pipe (IS 12818)
Water starts at 50 ft.
