Water shortage in India

How much Rainwater harvesting is carried out in India to use the rainwater for all purposes other than drinking.

As world population continues to increase, water resources will be subjected to escalating demand and potable water has real potential to become a critical/valuable resource.

Water required for crop irrigation, clothes washing and toilet needs requires less onerous pre-treatment.

In some countries non-potable, untreated water is consumed, being the only available source with subsequent health risks/effects.

Additionally, in many countries seasonal flooding results in environmental damage not just to property and infrastructure but to biodiversity and water resources contaminated by untreated sewage, chemicals, fertilisers and industrial waste.
