QUESTION
Request for borewell activation at the present depth of 325': Borewell getting filled with debris in Mangalore, Karnataka

Dear Madam/Sir,

With the help of some local people I had a bore well sunk in my property in Mangalore, Karnataka, which is situated atop a hill. The Bore well report is as follows

  • Total depth of well 500'
  • Water found at 350' = 1"
  • Water found at 480' = 1 1/2"
  • Total water 21/2" = 1162 G.P.H. 90deg V notch.
  • Borehole dia = 6 1/2"
  • Boulders found at 260' G.I.
  • Casing installed to 150' depth from top.
  • Date of above report 18 March 2010.

Presently, I'm facing a problem of the borewell filling up with some debris, mostly granite stones (rest I'm not clear about ). The depth of the well is about 325' (ie, above the upper water weir). However, the water stands at about 90' from the top of the borewell. I have not installed a borewell pump as yet.

Another company came & flushed the well, they said that there was debris at 350' to the bottom, which they subsequently flushed out to 500'. They had difficulty retrieving the bore shaft between 500' and 350' (As I mentioned before, present depth of the well is 325')

I'm extremely concerned that the borewell will fill up with debris from the well walls resulting in the failure of the well to act as a sustainable source of water. Please suggest further course of action and also please accept my offer to pay for your kind consultancy as well.

Warm regards,
