QUESTION
Remedy sought for green layer in open well in Palakkad, Kerala

I am from Palakkad District in Kerala. My house is near the Bharathapuzha river. We dug a well around 4 years back and have plenty of water even in peak summer. We had clear water in the first year. But after the first monsoon when the water level went low in summer we found a greenish layer developing atop the water. Now if you look into the well you can not see water but a green layer only. But as the water is clear, no odour, tastes natural we still drink it. The greenish layer disappears when the well gets full in monsoon.

The greenish layer that is there in my well is atop the water only. It is very tiny like a powder, so we can not even catch it. It does not clog the water pump or pipelines. It does not even get into the overhead tank on the terrace.  I have seen many open water wells in my neighborhood and they do not have this problem. Kindly advice on remedial action to remove the same.
