Society for the Promotion of Women and Child Welfare (SPOWAC) is a NGO working in the field of education, health, women empowerment and other similar areas. We have recently adopted seven villages in District Faridabad, Haryana.
The immediate problem we see as far as water is concerned is that the bore well water is not fit for irrigation because of hardness. The land becomes infertile after one usage. The villagers are dependent on water from nearby canal for irrigation which is highly polluted with factory wastes( nature of the pollutants is not known). The water is used sparingly for growing wheat and cattle feed.
They are able to grow only one crop ( wheat) and rest of the year the land is barren without any produce.
Can something be done to improve the water quality so that there are at least two crops in a year.
We are interested in testing the bore well water, what are the suggested parameters that we should test for? And any labs that can do the tests in our local area?
The villages which has this problem are
- Rajolaka
- Karna
- Kakrali
The total cultivable land for these village alone is about 1000 acres.
The villages are about 7 kms from Palwal in District Faridabad.
