I have dug an open well for my domestic water needs in my plot in Trivandrum city. The well is 3ft in diameter and 35 ft deep. The water table now is at 22 ft and there is a 13-15 ft water column in the well after rains. I have not tested the water so far. But the water is colorless, tasteless and odorless.

My question is : Can I keep the well permanently capped and sealed to prevent entry of any kind of contaminant or leaves/creatures etc.
What kind of capping can be used ? What will be the frequency of having to open the casing, in case opening is required?
