QUESTION
Partial Water Softening/ pH reduction

Our main issue is scaling which is causing damage to our plumbing systems. Total hardness (CaCO3) is 470 and Calcium is 130. Total alkalinity is 265.

We are thinking of two options:

1) Go for partial water softening methods since softening entire water seems to be costly. Blend the un-softened water with softened water to reduce the hardness to a reasonable level. How to know how much quantity of water to be softened ? OR

2) Reduction of pH. I have heard that reducing pH will reduce the scaling. Are there any standard dosing systems available for dosing H2SO4. What about the cost compared to partial softening?

Request you to give details on this two things. (Partial water softening and pH reduction)
