Please help on this. We are a total novice on the subject. We have a 421 ft borewell in our house and pump water to overhead tank of 1200 ltrs at a height of around 30 ft. The Varuna submersible pump was installed by the builder/contractor 9 years ago. Last week ,it has become unserviceable. We have scanned the market in Ujjain and Indore, the vendors of Varuna pump say that the repair of oil based pump/motor is difficult and costly and a new one has to be purchased.

We tried to scan for a new one, but we were confused by the shopkeepers owing to the multiplicity of pumps  the market ranging from Rs 10000 to 20000 as also the science of using the branded ones over the assembled ones. Our earlier pump appears to be 2 hp and was working fine.
