We get water in tankers for our apartments in Bellandur, Bangalore. Drinking water is treated by RO. Except that I have to clean the filter once in 2 weeks. The quantity of SPM that I remove from this filter makes me worry about the quality of water  for other uses like bathing and clothes washing.Since I live in a flat, any solution for these has to be a common one.

A test by a RO vendor showed pre-treated water having 550 ppm of Suspended particulate matter. Is 550 ppm of SPM acceptable for domestic, non-drinking use? If not is there a solution at the community level?
