QUESTION
Industrial waste treatment in municipal ETP: Need references of process problems due to dumping

I am working as a process engineer at a municipal sewage treatment plant of capacity 75000 cu.m/day. At present plant is working very nicely with the following effluent water parameters. TSS : 3 --- 5 PPM, BOD: 4 --- 6 PPM, COD: 15 --- 18 PPM

The plant is located in KSA and plant is working on principle of activated sludge process with a non-conventional continuous channel hydraulic design called ‘CARROUSEL’. The treatment plant consists of inlet area with mechanical bar screens, biological odor control system and grit removal unit, sewage distribution proportion chamber, aeration tanks, settlement tanks, activated sludge return pumping station, sludge distribution chamber, filtration house, chlorination system, chlorine contact tanks, sludge thickening tanks and sludge dewatering system (Belt filter presses).

But due to some problems now ministry wants to dump all industrial waste also with the raw municipal sewage for the treatment.  Can you please provide me some references for the municipal treatment plants which are facing lot of process and operation problems due to dumping of industrial waste water for the treatment at the same facility to satisfy the ministry personnel to avoid them doing this or some other data which will satisfy them to look some other options for the industrial waste water treatment.
