QUESTION
Guidelines regarding treated effluent reuse in an apartment in Bangalore, Karanataka

I stay in an apartment complex with 300 flats in Bangalore. We have a sewage treatment plant. The process used in our sewage treatment plant is activated sludge process - extended aeration. The treated water goes through sand filter and carbon filters before getting chlorinated. Amount of chlorine used is 2mg/ lt of treated water ( in the form of sodium hypochlorite). We use this water for toilet flushing and landscape watering at present.

I would like to know what are the norms for treated water usage - does the treated water necessarily have to be re-used in apartment toilets or can be used only for landscape watering and the excess can be flushed out to the storm drains?
