QUESTION
Can I pass rain water into a borewell that already has silt in Bangalore? Is it safe? Or should I pass it into the sump?

Hi,

I have a borewell in Bangalore which is giving 1" yield of water. When we had put the borewell a year ago, the person informed us that the borewell contains silt. I have put a 2 hp submersible pump to draw water from the borewell. As I am planning to do rain water harvesting (RWH), my query is whether it is safe to pass the rain water to the borewell even thought it contains silt.

Also, can I do rainwater harvesting and pass the water to the sump water storage instead of the borewell?

Please advice.

Thanks in advance.
