QUESTION
Borewell failure in Chitlapakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu - Need suggestions to solve water issues

I live in Chitlapakkam, Chennai 600064 this is near Chrompet (Madras Institute of Technology).I had a borewell done in May 2008 for a depth of 130 ft and it had sufficient water (~ 200-300 litres per day) and then dried up.  Now there is no water in the borewell.  The bore well company claimed that they cant go beyond 130 ft as water was abundant and there are rock pieces coming out and the bore well can get collapsed.

We had two spots marked for the drilling by different persons the first did not yield any water during drilling upto 150 ft, the second water gushed out around 40 -45 ft and then on there was continuous water gushing till 130 ft and we had a 1 hp centrifugal jet fitted to pump out water.  Now there is no water. There are open wells in the area which are having water at 40 ft depth.

I am now worried if I have to go again for deeper borewell either 250 or 300 ft or I am contemplating to go for a open well but the only concern is to use explosives as hard rock would start around 15 -20 ft depth.   The house has 3 bore wells aready starting from 100 ft to 150 and none of them are supplying water for a household purpose.

Can you suggest what I should to do to get a right choice to solve water issues at home?

Should I go for a open well or bore well ? Should I go for bigger dia borewell? (all of them currently are 4")

Should I take help to scientifically asses the water points for drilling? Can I have the contact details of good borewell companies?
