QUESTION
Air Compressor or Submersible Motor - Which one suits when there is limited availability of borewell water

Hello, I reside in a village nearby to Madurai, Tamil Nadu. We own a farmland of five acres, in which we recently dug a borewell of 1000 ft depth, as our farm land heavily rely on the borewater. We installed submersible motor of 7.5 HP capacity and started yielding water out of it. It pumps out 1.5 inch of water for about 1 hr daily. This availability of water from this borewell is more likely to deplete in the coming months (because in summers, we face water shortage in borewells every year & other nearby farms too). So, I thought to replace this submersible motor with an air compressor, as I heard from some of my local farmers that air compressors can extract water efficiently even when there is limited availability of water during summer. Although I am aware that submersible motors are efficient in pumping water than air compressors but my question is which motor suits well particularly when there is limited availability of water, considering the borewell depth of 1000 ft. Can anyone please suggest / advice on this? Also, please not that I am aware that replacing to air compressor would cost more, but I don't have any option to save my crops & trees which are worth more than the replacement cost. Thank you.

Regards Kumar
