WaterAid has operations in 26 countries of Africa, Asia and the Pacific Region. In India WaterAid operates as a liaison Office (Country Office) in New Delhi and Additional Liaison (Regional) Offices in Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, and Lucknow. In 10 states across the country WaterAid supports the work of a large number of national and regional NGOs in the provision of safe and effective water and sanitation for poor and marginalized communities.

Our team of professionals includes programme, policy and finance staff. India Country Programme is one of WaterAid’s most established programmes in Asia with a total of 50 staff and a current annual budget of about Rs.25 crores. WAI's programme focus in the coming five years will be promoting and securing the rights and access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation for many poor people through direct services and millions more through our influencing work. This will include significant inputs of research, documentation, advocacy, networking and supporting NGOs.

WaterAid India invites applications from experienced and qualified candidates for the position of Programme Officer (Policy Research) for its country office in New Delhi.  The post holder is responsible to undertake research on various themes and support in anchoring the agenda of mainstreaming right to water and sanitation and equity and inclusion, and reports to the Director Policy & Partnership. Programme Officer Policy Research is part of Policy and partnership team, and will work with WaterAid's programme teams, partners and networks to take forward the right to water and sanitation, in a manner consistent with WaterAid's strategy, values and approach.

Essential requirements for the post are Master's degree with five years experience, impressive experience in networking and undertaking research, demonstrable communication and analytical skills, ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, knowledge about campaigns and movements, social, and political issues of the country, with effective influencing, negotiation skills. Desirable qualifications are knowledge of human rights experience of working in water, sanitation programmes.

This post is offered on a 4-year fixed-term contract normally renewable at the end of contract, however it can also be renewed as we transit into an Indian entity.
