About SeaChange : Dakshin’s SeaChange initiative is an integrated pathway that secures healthy ecosystems and thriving communities. It enables inclusive, community-driven, governance models for the sustainable use of coastal and marine ecosystems and improvement of community wellbeing through strengthening collective action within and across coastal regions.

Position details:

The position involves working with specific site embedded teams at Dakshin as well as key stakeholders in the landscape to implement Dakshin’s SeaChange programme.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

1. Be an active member of Dakshin’s SeaChange site embedded team, working closely with the Dakshin team and community staff in Tamil Nadu to plan and execute the SeaChange initiative.

2. Coordinate and implement on-ground programmes and SeaChange deliverables like conducting workshops, trainings, development modules and working on multiple intersectoral themes such as conservation, fisheries, livelihoods, governance, health, sports and community wellbeing in coastal systems of Tamil Nadu.

3. Build partnerships with different stakeholders and develop resources to operationalise health interventions.

4. Support the programme team in planning, communications, monitoring and regularly assessing programmatic progress in coordination with other teams at Dakshin.

5. Contribute to report writing, fulfilling other reporting requirements and other routine administrative responsibilities.

Candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:

1. Master’s degree in natural resource management, rural/community development/ sustainability studies/development studies/environmental studies/ law or any relevant degree, with a minimum of two years of work experience

2. Fluency in English (spoken and written); fluency in Tamil (spoken, with preference for written proficiency)

3. Demonstrable ability to independently organise meetings and undertake coordination of field logistics.

4. Proven ability to work in collaboration with diverse stakeholders and teams.

5. Proven ability to stay in a rural field site for an extended duration.

Please note that this position requires candidates to be based in Ramanathapuram for at least 9 months of the year.

Preferential Requirements:

1. Experience in working with rural communities and youth on development, fisheries and/or conservation issues will be an added advantage.
