Duration of the Project: 7 months

Job Purpose:

The School WES civil engineer is responsible for timely implementation of water and sanitation infrastructure in 75 schools as per given specification.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Review of the existing WASH facilities to estimate need for rehabilitation and fresh installation of WASH facilities
• Preparing site specific the basic design for toilet construction in accordance with state governments specification and design criteria
• Incorporating child friendly and gender friendly toilet design available with UN agencies and with local government
• Identifying contractors for implementation of new WASH facilities in 75 schools with the highest priority need
• Supervision of the construction works
• Ensuring the quality of the work
• Ensuring that the contractor delivers as per deadline
• Timely reporting and documenting progress reports for internal and external circulation
• Obtaining site specific design for water and sanitation infrastructure in discussing with concern stake holders
• Estimating the cost required to fulfill the WES infrastructure in schools
• Completion of infrastructure in all the 75 schools in the Orissa and Uttarakhand as per schedule

Person Specifications:

• Diploma in civil engineering from a recognized institute
• Knowledge in school water and sanitation construction activity 
• Knowledge in child friendly and gender specific sanitation facilities
• Excellent written and spoken English/Hindi/Oriya  language skills
• Strong financial management skills applied in a grants environment
• Good systems and reporting skills
• Strong facilitation skills
• Influencing and negotiation skills
• Effective at leading and controlling meetings
• Excellent verbal and written communications 

Travel requirements: Frequent travelling across project districts
