Position Overview :
JBF invites applications from qualified professionals for the position of Media and Public Relations Specialist. The selected candidate will be responsible for enhancing the visibility of the Foundation’s work across English and Hindi print media, television news, and emerging digital platforms. The role requires a seasoned communicator capable of shaping public narratives, building relationships with media stakeholders, and ensuring consistent, strategic media coverage of the Foundation’s programmes, advocacy efforts, and public campaigns.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive media and public relations strategy
Draft and disseminate press releases, op-eds, articles, media kits, and advocacy content in both English and Hindi
Establish and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and producers from leading national and regional media houses
Facilitate media coverage of JBF’s field activities, research, campaigns, and events
Organize press briefings, media visits, and public events to generate strategic visibility
Monitor and analyze media coverage; prepare regular reports and recommendations
Support internal teams in refining messaging for public dissemination
Supervise any third-party media consultants or PR agencies engaged by the Foundation
Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, or related discipline from a recognized university
Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience in media relations, journalism, or public advocacy, preferably with exposure to both print and digital media
Fluency in English and Hindi—both written and spoken—is essential
Proven ability to place stories and opinion articles in leading dailies and prime-time television
Strong portfolio of published work or media engagement campaigns
Experience in development communication or rights-based work will be considered an asset
Core Competencies:
Excellent writing, editing, and messaging skills for diverse audiences
Sound judgment in news handling, narrative development, and media engagement
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
Strong networking skills and a current contact base in national and regional media
Sensitivity to grassroots issues, gender rights, water justice, and environmental concerns
