About India Water Portal - Hindi :
India Water Portal is a website that shares knowledge and builds communities around water and related issues in India. Managed by Arghyam, the Portal is available in two languages: English and Hindi, and has become a valuable archive of resources, working papers, reports, data, articles, news, events, opportunities, and discussions on water. It has also become a place to share experiences and solutions, to talk to water experts, and to learn about the work that others are doing in sustainable water management in India.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Managing Editor to lead the editorial strategy for the India Water Portal - Hindi. The ideal candidate will oversee the creation of high-quality, engaging, and impactful content, encourage user-generated contributions, and supervise reporting fellows to strengthen regional storytelling.
1. Editorial Planning and Strategy
Develop and implement editorial guidelines to ensure content quality, consistency, and alignment with IWP’s vision.
Create and manage a monthly editorial calendar, curating content around thematic focus areas.
Update editorial policies regularly to reflect emerging trends and feedback.
2. Content Strategy and Procurement
Understand user needs and behavior to inform content creation, procurement, and distribution strategies in alignment with organizational goals.
Write and edit diverse content, including features, interviews, analyses, visual stories, and data-driven pieces.
Collaborate with experts, contributors, and organizations in the water sector to procure high-quality content.
Actively encourage and curate contributed content to foster community engagement
3. Platform Management and Quality Control
Ensure consistent messaging across the website, social media, and other communication channels.
Oversee the drafting and distribution of monthly newsletters/whatsapp channel messages to drive engagement.
Periodically review and update archived content to maintain relevance and accuracy.
Use analytics to review monthly trends and traffic, and refine content and distribution strategies accordingly.
4. Contributor and Fellow Engagement
Supervise reporting fellows for regional storytelling, ensuring quality and alignment with editorial goals.
Provide editorial guidance and mentorship to reporting fellows and freelance writers.
Collaborate with contributors to source diverse and impactful content.
Nurture a network of contributors to bring varied perspectives on water issues.
At least 6–8 years of experience in Hindi content editing and management, with a strong focus on features and long-form writing.
Proven expertise in developing and enforcing editorial guidelines.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills in Hindi (proficiency in English is an advantage).
Familiarity with CMS platforms, basic HTML, SEO principles, and social media management tools.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
