Description: Lok Shakti Samiti (LSS) is a non-governmental organisation working on social development issues in rural areas of tribal belt of Chhattisgarh, India. In collaboration with WaterAid (UK), LSS has been intensively working in Raigarh district on community rights for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), since 2004.
In continuing collaboration with WaterAid (UK), LSS is initiating State level advocacy intervention for effective WASH service delivery and collaborating with State level stakeholders for efficient implementation of flagship programmes of Government of India, Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) and National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP).
Qualifications:
Post-Graduate degree in Social Science/ Rural Development/ Environment Management or Public Health or a closely related field from a reputable university.
At least 3-4 years work experience in rural development sector. Candidates with experience in sanitation (TSC) are desirable.
Good understanding of water and sanitation policy reforms
Excellent oral & written communication skills in Hindi and English.
Knowledge & ability to use computers, especially MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point) including graphics
Ability to work independently without any secretarial support.
Job responsibilities:
Assist the State Advocacy Coordinator to develop engagement with concerned government departments and other stakeholders
Coordinate field research under the guidance of the State Advocacy Coordinator
Plan for State level training, meeting, workshops and seminars etc. under the guidance of the State Advocacy Coordinator and contribute with feedback from the field
Review TSC at district level and identify bottlenecks
Collect and compile data on various sanitation and hygiene related indicators
Assist the State Advocacy Coordinator for developing quality programme reports
Travel in the field as per the need of the programme - minimum of 7-10 days in a month
Assist the State Advocacy Coordinator for organizing various events at the State level
Any other task assigned by the State Advocacy Coordinator and Chief Functionary of LSS, in the interest of the programme
Report to the State Advocacy Coordinator
Remuneration: The appointment is initially for 1 year and renewable at the end of contract, based on performance. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be in the tune of Rs. 25000/-
