India Water Portal is looking for Content Editors

The India Water Portal is an open, collaborative, web-based initiative, anchored by Arghyam, for sharing water management knowledge amongst practitioners, experts and the general public. Through its content and services, the portal aims to inspire, catalyse and support water/environment development initiatives on the ground, across the country.

The portal effort has been growing significantly since its launch in 2005, and we are looking for new people to help us manage our work.

Title of position

Content Editor - India Water Portal

Nature of position

Part-time, as a consultant working from home. You must be able to put in at least 80 hours of work in a month. After a 3-month induction period, your appointment will be confirmed for one year, and can be extended.

Location

Anywhere in India, but preferably New Delhi or Bangalore. Day to day coordination of the work, will be through phone and email. You must be able to make at least two 5-day visits in a year to Arghyam (travel, lodging costs will be reimbursed), for half-yearly review and planning meetings.

Academic Qualifications

Post-graduate in Development / Environment / Water / Social Sciences or related disciplines.

Experience

Minimum of 5-10 years of on-the-ground and research/documentation experience in working with water / environment-related development initiatives in India.

Desired Skills

  • Excellent English writing/communication skills. Ability to read and write in Hindi is desirable.
  • Be comfortable with using basic Office software and various Internet-based tools.
  • Have good computer and high speed internet access at your home.

 

Work Description

The work will involve:

  • Processing content that is to be uploaded onto the India Water Portal. This will involve extensive reading, summarising and writing stand firsts, editing, cataloguing and organising of suitable content for the website.
  • Doing secondary (largely internet-based) research for developing new content. This will involve identifying and sourcing relevant content from the web based on key water-related themes, events, organisations etc.
  • Communicating with water sector practitioners, experts, agencies, individuals for sourcing / developing content related to water.

Compensation 

Pay will be based on actual hours of work put in. The rate of pay will be Rs. 170/hour, and vary depending on your capacity, skills and related experience. TDS will be deducted.

Work-related expenses such as computer, electricity, internet etc will not be reimbursed.
