The Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) is a national education institution committed to the equitable, sustainable and efficient transformation of Indian settlements. Description:
It is for a period of 2 days, in Bangalore. It will start at 9:00 am on 23rd Mar 2012 and end at 7:00 pm on 24th Mar 2012. We would recommend that you be in Bangalore on the night of 22nd March 2012.

In a short course that integrates theoretical concepts with practical strategies, Dr. Jyoti Hosagrahar, the course convener, will explore ways to apply universal norms and standards of sustainability and heritage conservation to benefit particular places and communities. In contrast to the current divide between urban development aimed at modernisation and heritage conservation, Dr. Hosagrahar urges integrative solutions. Ar. Sathyaprakash Varanashi will co-host the course along with Dr. Hosagrahar.

Eligibility:
Participation is limited to 15 applicants. Application is open to candidates from all disciplines but individuals with backgrounds in architecture, planning, engineering, economics, finance, sociology, anthropology, geography, political science, environmental sciences, social work, law and management are encouraged to apply.

Course fee:
The course fee is Rs. 5,000/- if you apply on or before March 5th 2012. Course fee for applications received after this date will be Rs. 6,000/-.
Course fee will include food & refreshments for the 2 days, course reading material and any travel required for case studies or site visits.
