About the Organisation :
Society for Promoting Participative Ecosystem Management (SOPPECOM) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation working in the area of Natural Resource Management (NRM) primarily in the rural areas. It is committed to the principles of sustainable and rational use of natural resources, equity, and social justice in the distribution of benefits, especially to the disadvantaged sections like dalits, landless, women, democratic and decentralised governance of these resources.
SOPPECOM is seeking to hire a communication/ outreach officer (equivalent to a Research Associate position) for a part-time/full-time position on a project on “Towards improving ecological health of River Bhima, Maharashtra, India: filling knowledge gaps, informing action and involving communities for conservation”. The project is located in the Upper Bhima basin in Pune district.
This is a junior-level position, and the communication/ outreach officer will be required to assist the senior project members in the development of awareness and sensitisation material, coordinate field-level activities, and help in creating wider awareness through social and other media.
Desirables :
The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills and should be proficient in English and Marathi.
The candidate should have a minimum graduate degree, preferably in Environmental Science/ Environmental Studies.
Experience of working on environmental issues in general and on riverine issues in particular will be an added advantage.
The position is based out of Pune, and the candidate will be required to work from the Pune office.
Additionally, the position requires travel to the field.
