Description:
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MoHRD), Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) and GIZ (formerly known as GTZ) has initiated the `National School Sanitation Initiative’ with an objective to improve school sanitation scenario and to raise awareness leading to behavioural change.
Institutionalising of the CBSE – GIZ Sanitation and Knowledge Development Cell at CBSE for the proper management and functioning of its website and the overall management of the school sanitation ratings and other relevant issues with the long term goal of providing sanitation related advice and guidance to all the enquiring schools for the improvement of their respective sanitation ratings and awareness.
To facilitate best sanitation practices in the schools, CBSE in collaboration with MoHRD & GIZ has adapted National School Sanitation Manual. A dedicated website on National School Sanitation Initiative was launched on July 7, 2011. Accordingly, Online School Sanitation Ratings have been instituted with the purpose of recognizing those schools who are taking significant steps towards effective sanitation and improvement in service delivery leading to the desired behavioural and attitudinal changes towards health, hygiene & sanitation.
As furtherance to the National School Sanitation Initiative, it has been decided that all the CBSE schools will be rated accordingly to their sanitation status.
The CBSE-GIZ National School Sanitation and Knowledge Development Cell will perform the following tasks:-
- School Sanitation Management through Knowledge Development Platform and Financial Sustainability.
- Public Relations and Awareness Raising.
- Technical Advice and Guidance.
- Training and Capacity Building.
- International Cooperation and Globalisation.
- Documentation and Publications.
Place of Assignment:
CBSE-GIZ cell, CBSE Office at Rouse Avenue, New Delhi.
Travel:
Local travels, as well as outstation travel as and when required by GIZ, within India.
Duration:
Initially for one year.
Job description:
a. Endorsement of technical and financial management plan by CBSE.
b. Institutionalising of a reporting structure including statistical information on National School Sanitation Initiative.
c. Writing reports on a bi-annual basis based on the reporting structure developed for the purpose.
d. Endorsement of the standardised recommendations for first level improvement of ratings for school sanitation.
e. Shortlisting of potential cooperating schools in GIZ supported cities (at least 10 schools in 6 cities each and coordination with GIZ baseline requirements) and support GIZ interventions in these schools.
