Everyday more than 1000 children die of preventable, water related diseases in India. At least 30 million people don’t have access to safe drinking water in urban India, and 40 million live in slums without adequate sanitation facilities. And the situation is only going to worsen. Water is likened to oil, only much more central to our very lives and well-being. Globally, it is increasingly being seen as the burning issue of this century.

Arghyam, a leading national charitable foundation has dedicated itself to the cause of the poorest citizens through the cause of water. Setup with a private endowment from writer and philanthropist Rohini Nilekani, Arghyam’s mission is “Safe, sustainable water for all”.  For more than 4 years now, Arghyam has been driving and supporting programs in rainwater harvesting, groundwater management, sanitation, drinking water programs, water quality etc. by working closely with NGOs in rural areas and civil society organizations. In order to reach out for more and more people sooner and in cost effective way, technology is used as an enabler. The initiatives like www.IndiaWaterPortal.org  has already made its mark in bringing together the concerned people in Water and Sanitation sector across India. There are similar wide reaching complex IT projects in the offing for which Arghyam is looking for a dynamic individual to lead the efforts. Arghyam is very open to using new and emerging technologies including the mobile applications to meet our objectives.

We need to hire a Technology Project Manager to strengthen our Technology team.

Title: Technology Project Manager
Full time position based in Bengaluru
Start Date - As soon as possible

Academic Qualification:
BE/MCA from a reputed university. Master Degree is even better.

Experience

• 8-10 years broad experience in the field of Information technology in any of the organizations like Non- Profit, Government, Research and Private IT companies. Experience in building applications/products with extensive use of database is desirable.
• Should have experience in project planning, estimation and budgeting
• Should have an ability to translate the business requirements into technical specs
• Should have worked in projects that had extensive use of data and database
• Should be an active team member with good verbal written skills
• Research, analyse and present suitable solutions to meet business and technical needs
• Experience in designing application databases and have fair knowledge on database concepts and fundamentals.

Job Functions will include:

• Facilitating timely project deliverables by efficient project/program management
• Deliver the technology requirements , Optimize the use of technology to further the campaign objectives
• Initiate new ideas for new product development.
• Design and facilitating development using object oriented process and component oriented techniques for various IT projects
• Perform database design
• Strike strategic technology partnerships that would benefit the campaign. Work with all technology partners to ensure timely and quality delivery of mutual commitments.
• Work with all external vendors e.g. web hosting vendor, web development agency, application software service providers, mobile apps developing vendors etc. to ensure the technology requirements of the campaign is met against the set standards.
• Support projects for the duration of the warranty period.
• Provide technical guidance to team members, Client, Partners etc.,

Desired Skills:

• Good with Project Planning tools like MS project, planner etc
• Well versed with using office productivity tools like MS Office, Open Office etc
• Experience and exposure to IT product development
• Experience with relational database like MS SQL, Oracle, MySQl etc

Pay will be commensurate with experience
