Applications invited for SuSanA - ISC Coordinator

The India Sanitation Coalition (ISC) together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für international Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), are looking for a SuSanA India chapter coordinator.


In light of the recent increased political and civil efforts to accelerate sanitation provision in India, the SuSanA secretariat has set-up its first regional chapter for India. The SuSanA India chapter is an open and inclusive contribution to the government-led effort towards more sustainable and accelerated sanitation provision in India. 

The SuSanA India chapter offers the successfully proven SuSanA tools, such as the SuSanA library, Forum and Wiki and the SuSanA publications and Factsheets for use in the Indian context and stimulates knowledge exchange, networking and cooperation within the region


The main tasks of the coordinator will be to prepare, organise and follow-up on nine online thematic discussions on the SuSanA discussion forum and to coordinate the interface between the SuSanA Secretariat and the Indian Sanitation Coalition.

The coordinator will in particular:

  • Prepare and organise up to nine thematic online discussions on the SuSanA discussion Forum (including the production of summaries and synthesis documents of the online discussion as well as follow-up activities such as webinars) 
  • Reply to forum posts and moderate posts on the SuSanA discussion forum
  • Provide translation of forum posts into Indian languages
  • Support the conceptual development of the SuSanA Indian chapter 
  • Support the integration of SuSanA content (e.g. SuSanA discussion forum) on the ISC webportal and vice versa
  • Communicate with the SuSanA Indian chapter members by mail, skype and phone calls
  • Link ISC Regional Workshops to the SuSanA Indian chapter
  • Uploading Indian chapter relevant publications to the SuSanA library 
  • Disseminating and adapting the SuSanA case study format to Indian projects

Your profile:

  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. environmental science, social science, business management, engineering or related subjects)
  • Sound knowledge of standard Office applications and content management
  • Expertise in sustainable sanitation and the Indian sanitation sector 
  • Experience in network management  
  • Fluency in English 
  • Social competence and ability to work in a team

Duration of contract: 3 years, to start as soon as possible (1.1.2016), fulltime
