Mewat celebrates World Water Day

People from all walks of life, villagers, NGOs, govt officials and water experts participated in the World Water Day celebration in Mewat that was organised by the S M Sehgal Foundation, a rural development NGO working in the district.

Mewat is a dry region, thanks to absence of surface water, increasing salinity in groundwater and depleting resources. Many villages depend on those near the foothills of the Aravalli hills that have some drinking water sources left. The Foundation, along with the local community has been working in the region to raise awareness about conservation of drinking water sources and has also developed models of conservation based on indigenous knowledge
