The first international chapter of Environmental and Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers, ASCE - EWRI  South India Chapter was  inaugurated at IIT Madras on January 6th 2010. As a first event of the chapter, we are organising  a workshop titled " Protecting water bodies of Chennai"on the world water day on March 22nd at ICSR.  The workshop is unique with its special focus on the brainstorming parallel discussion on the three topics - Surface water, Ground water and Estuaries and marshlands. The experts are handpicked from academia, research organisations, government bodies and NGOs.
 
We request you to depute your representative to our Institute to cover the programme. The Inaugural session is at 9.15 a.m. which has three key note addresses and the Plenary session of the workshop is at 3.30p.m.where the recommendations of the experts will be presented to the MD CEO of TamilNadu Urban Infrastructure Services, Mr. K Phanindra Reddy and the US consulate General who is sponsoring the event.  The program and list of partcipants are attached.
