Description:

INTACH Bangalore is pleased to announce our next Parichay, which will be about the tank systems of Bangalore. Our walk leader, Rohan DSouza, a researcher at NIAS, will talk to us about the series of reservoirs that were created to harvest rainwater in Bangalore, using the example of the 1100-year-old settlement and tank at Kudlu village.

Join us to walk along Kudlu kere's ancient tank bund and to see its old sluices and overflow weirs. Rohan will also talk to us about land-water connections in tank systems, the Neergunte community and their role in maintaining the canals associated with these tanks, and about the historicity of the Kudlu settlement itself.
